Learn@UW - Authentication Prompts Appear when accessing MS Office Documents in Content

There is a known issue with Learn@UW which sometimes results in users receiving unusual authentication prompts when attempting to view or close after viewing Microsoft Office documents that are Content topics of a course.

If this problem occurs, the user should click Cancel in response to the authentication prompts. It may be necessary to click through several prompts.

Instead of creating Content topics directly from Microsoft Office documents, you may use the following procedure to circumvent this problem:

  1. Upload Microsoft Office documents into a course file folder using 'Manage Files'.
  2. Create the HTML topics in the Content using 'Manage Content'.
  3. In each of the topics, create a Quicklink to the corresponding file selecting the option to open the file in a New Window.
