NetID - Account Utilities

Most NetID problems can be resolved without having to call the DoIT Help Desk. A series of NetID tools was created so that you can resolve your account issues quickly and easily.
Reset Password/Account RecoveryNetID Password Reset Utility
If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it using the link above. You will be asked for your NetID, campus photo ID number, and birthdate. You will then need to answer your three self help password reset questions, before being allowed to reset your password. See NetID - Resetting a Forgotten Password for more information.
If you have problems resetting your password, please call the DoIT Help Desk at 608-264-HELP (608-264-4357). Password issues cannot be handled via email or chat.
Activate AccountNetID Account Activation Utility
If you have not activated your account, you can activate it using the link above. More detailed instructions for activating your account can be found at NetID - Activating Your Account. This link gives information on NetIDs in general, and also gives activation instructions for students and faculty/staff.

Modify AccountNetID Modification Utility
If you wish to change your password, set up your password reset questions, or activate UW services, you can modify your account using the link above.
- Change your password: Used when you know your current password, but want to change it for security or personal reasons.
- Set up your password reset questions: Used to easily reset your password in the event you forget it.
- Activate UW services: Used when UW services need to be activated for use. Services like WiscMail, WiscCal, and My UW may become inactive if you change departments, appointments, or return to the university after an absence. You can reactivate them using this tool.
